Engaging in Inclusive Practices to Build Community
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Education Program offers sessions designed to support leadership development for engaging in inclusive practices. These sessions are aimed at deepening participants' self-awareness and understanding of others through the lens of diversity and offer participants the opportunity to explore their role in supporting inclusive environments.
Student organizations, including Registered Student Organizations (RSOs), sororities and fraternities, may request a community building or inclusive practices session. Units and departments may request a community building or inclusive practices session for their undergraduate or graduate student staff.
The learning objectives for community building and inclusive practices center around:
- Introducing and framing the UC Davis Principles of Community for inclusive practices
- Developing awareness about the diversity at UC Davis
- Deepening self-awareness around diverse identities and experiences
- Creating opportunities for dialogue and connection around diversity
- Understanding and identifying individual roles and responsibilities for creating inclusive environments
